Nordstrom recently acquired Hautelook. Gilt speculates an IPO coming out shortly in 2012, currently the market evaluation is around a billion. It has started branching out into brands such as Jetsetter- discount and full priced luxury vacations, Gilt City- local deals, and the occassional Gilt bridal. I'm an avid fan of Gilt, getting up @ 8am just for their sales Laugh . Right now, I think it's best of breed for an discount online retailer. I'm not quite sure on Gilt City as it has rivals such as GroupOn, LivingSocial, etc. Any thoughts on Gilt? Possible pricing points?

I'd never invest getting in @ the IPO. It is too speculative.. and it is typically the investment bank who makes the money… not the investors (that is, if a non-institutional investor can even get in). Loving the products is often a great start to an investment.

I'd recommend waiting until after the IPO and letting the stock cool off for a bit. Often, there is quite a dip after a couple of months. Then, make sure it has a clean balance sheet, strong cash flow, etc and invest over time (for example, a 1/3 of your intiial position, another 1/3 if it dips, etc.).
